This is a one/no fuss page dedicated entirely to the process of baseball [and other cap] manufacturing. If you want to manufacture baseball caps then you are in the right place. But read on a bit anyway to get a bit of background and drop us an email so we can help you get your design off the ground with minimal hassle at MOQs that are sensible.
The idealabgz is an all inclusive UK owned cut and sew manufacturing company based in South East Asia since 2009. We take your designs and ideas and breathe life into them with a focus on getting your brand off the ground with sensible MOQs. We have a wealth of experience and we are here to help you manufacture baseball caps (or any other type of cap). We pride ourselves on being approachable, down to earth and sensible with a focus on the longer term vision of helping you to grow your brand.
Getting your baseball cap design off the ground and into market is not rocket science, but it does require some careful consideration in terms of well sketched out tech drawings, material selection and a good set of samples. If we get these three right then we are half way home to being ready for our first production run in no time [around 5-6 weeks]
If you have your cap design ready to go and want to get a quote simply drop us an email here at enquiry@idealabgz.com along with your designs and we will get a quote together put together for you pronto.
If you want to read a little more about the process of how baseball cap manufacturers put things together then read on.
Step 1: Define Your Product Concept
1.1. Market Research:
• Analyze current trends, customer preferences, and competitor products.
• Decide on the style, target audience, and price point for your baseball caps.
Obviously we can't help you do this but it means getting into the trenches, screenshotting instagram, saving pinterest pins and just collating your ideas. If you have pictures of what you want but haven't quite got them drawn up as technical sketches and want to run them past us to get an initial idea of how it all sits then of course email us here. Ideally the best thing to send us though is a technical design sketch
1.2. Create Design Sketches:
• Sketch out the designs of the caps, including shape, logo placement, embroidery, and color options.
If you want someone to help put your ideas together as a technical sketch then we can help you do that - or you can head over to websites like fiverr.com or upwork.com where you will find pages and pages of willing and extremely competent designers. Just remember to get the source file [raw file] so you can get edits made down the line. Most of the designers can turn around a drawing in 4-5 days and include a set of revisions, but definitely double check.
• Work with a designer to create detailed technical drawings (CAD) that specify the cap’s structure, dimensions, and features.
• Include details on stitching, panel design, brim shape, eyelet placement, and closure type (e.g., snapback, Velcro, buckle).
It is important before you move into the pricing up stage that you have a good footing on the above and have at least a general idea of what it is you are trying to manufacture.
2. Material Specifications and Sizing.
There are of course many suitable fabrics for caps: cotton, polyester, wool. And the closures can use a variety of different plastics and metal. Obviously these things affect the caps' price as well as the minimum order quantity.
Metal buckles may have an MOQ of 300pcs for example whilst plastic buckles are so readily available the MOQ on the plastic buckle is basically one.
Within the material specification you need to pay special attention also to the weight and weave of the material. For example is it a twill, a mesh. As well as post processing treatments that need to be taken into account - the most common being incorporating water resistance and UV protection into the fabric used.
Step 3: Sizing and Fit
Thankfully sizing up for caps is nowhere near as complicated as manufacturing garments and as long as we get the measurements right it should all go off without a hitch. And yes we have had people send us inches and mean cm. Mistakes can and will be made wherever, so lets be thorough and check everything twice. I think Elon Musk hit the nail on the head when he said in manufacturing you only need one process out of 10,000 things to go wrong and you are not manufacturing. The devil is in the details.
Step 4. Sampling
Once we have got our foundations in place as baseball cap manufacturers we can move forward with the fun stuff prototyping. This is the best bit, when we get to bring everything to life and see the paper ideas turn into something that you can wear. After nearly 20 years it hasn't got old - each prototype still feels like an unboxing of an early (or late ) christmas present.
Prototyping is not particularly expensive and ultimately it depends on how much embroidery, design work and colour work there is on your cap. As a rule of thumb budget between $50 and $75 USD for a sample baseball cap. If you have your designs and are ready to sample, drop us an email here and we can get stuck in right away.
Step 5. Production
After we have finished sampling - its usually a good time to jump into a quick zoom call and go over any specifics that are relevant to the order or particular features relevant to your cap design. And at this point we outline our production plan, in terms of timeline and delivery dates. Ordinarily as baseball cap manufacturers we need somewhere between 2 and 3 weeks for full manufacturing from when the deposit is placed. However if some of the materials have to be ordered in, then this can put a delay on the manufacturing lead time and push things back as we wait for custom material.
Hopefully that page didn't take too long to read and you have an idea of what you need to do and how it all works. So drop us an email here and let us get started on bringing your idea to life.
Have a great day,
Idealabgz Team
